So I Wrote a Thing for Diversity in YA
A very personal thing about what it’s like to be a POC writer. I was really inspired by the #WeNeedDiverseBooks twitter campaign. —->Check it out here!<—–
Oh and guess what?
*~*~*~FEATHER BOUND officially launches tomorrow!~*~*~*
FEATHER BOUND comes out tomorrow. Hm. I’m of two minds on this:
Â
YES MY BOOK IS FINALLY LAUNCHING
OH GOD PEOPLE WILL HATE IT
I mean I’m happy that I’ve gotten some really great reviews along with the expected ‘thisbooksucksDNFdon’tcarenoworldbuildingewew’ type reviews. Lol, it’s pleasantly shocking sometimes, how people can have such different opinions about the exact same book. But soon the book will be out there, available for purchase. Feels like a whole different ball game. It’s nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time.
I don’t know how I’ll celebrate since I’m also in the midst of some really annoying academic work and having to prepare for committee meetings and conferences. One things for sure: no matter what anyone says, no matter who might praise or slam my work, I am super proud. Dude, I’ve published something. I’ve achieved something I’ve only been able to dream of since I was a kid. Now it’s finally happening!
I’m also proud of the work itself. I didn’t write something safe, and honestly, I’d rather write something different and challenging than just kind of slum it with the same old.
Yep, I’m bad like that.
What can I say? I guess if you’re going to debut?
Might as well make a statement and do it in style 😀

This: “I didn’t write something safe, and honestly, I’d rather write something different and challenging than just kind of slum it with the same old.”
Terrifying.
Good luck on your debut!

(I mean terrifying in a good, exciting way, BTW)

Hee thanks! It is kind of terrifying because I know people will be very split on the book, but like you said, it’s terrifying in a cool and exciting way! 😀

Hi! Thank you :3 Honestly, it makes me so happy whenever a reader reaches out to tell me they liked my book! It’s my debut so I was very nervous about the whole thing, but comments like these really inspires me to keep going and putting my stuff out there!
YAY a moonie! I’m actually working on a project right now that, let’s just say, would definitely appeal to the moonie/otaku in all of us 😀 It’s in the final stages and I’m so excited about it. Stay tuned!
