Your girl was recently interviewed by the amazing Sam Sanders from LA’s KCRW, The Sam Sanders Show which broadcasts Culture and Entertainment conversations across the United States.

The topic was actually something near and dear to my academic and fangirl heart: “Would K-POP Exist Without Black Culture?” Listen to the 29-minute episode here to learn about cultural appropriation, cultural appreciation, and the messy history of hybridity embedded in K-POP and Blackness.

Interesting that the day after I recorded this episode, Manon of Katseye, a K-POP adjacent group, was put on ‘hiatus,’ with Manon herself hinting at anti-Black racism, prejudice, and mistreatment. Coincidence?
