NEW. BOOK. DEAL.
SO
THIS HAPPENED ONE FINE DAY:
Sarah Raughley’s DOLL SOLDIERS, a superhero fantasy pitched as PACIFIC RIM meets THE AVENGERS with a SAILOR MOON cast, to Michael Strother at Simon Pulse, in a very nice deal, in a pre-empt, in a three-book deal, by Natalie Lakosil at Bradford Literary Agency (World).
#YASSSS
#WERK
So, what do they mean by PACIFIC RIM meets the AVENGERS with a SAILOR MOON cast?
Basically:
1) Bad Ass Pretty Girls
2) Fighting Monsters
3) While the World is Watching
No Mecha involved, sorry Gundam fans! 🙂 Plenty of social media though!
Honestly, I’ve been struggling for a long time with the concept of ‘write what you love.’ Like seriously. Because trying to get published can be such an exciting but crushing experience all at the same time. You want to write something you love, you want to be true to your inner geeky fangirly child, but you’re scared that the work you produce won’t find a market. If anyone takes ANYTHING away from my story, it’s to not give up. EVER. In the words of my agent: “You wrote what you loved and the market found you.” It can happen people! Seriously! Please, please do not give up.
So excited for what’s to come!
